Tomislav Tomašević
Tomislav Tomašević was born in Zagreb in 1982. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science in 2010, and in 2013 he obtained a master's degree from the University of Cambridge in the field of environment, society and development. At the age of 16, he joined the Green Action, where he served as president from 2007 to 2012. He was also the president of the Croatian Youth Network and a member of the Youth Council and the Council for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, and participated in the launch of the Right to the City initiative. In 2017, he became a representative in the City Assembly of the City of Zagreb, and in 2020 he was elected to the Croatian Parliament. He held this position until he was elected mayor of the City of Zagreb in the direct elections held on 30 May 2021, after defeating his opponent by almost one hundred thousand votes in the second round of elections. In total, he won almost 200,000 votes, breaking the record for the number of votes for mayor and becoming the 53rd mayor of the City of Zagreb.
